Welcome everyone to the blog for the Istanbul
– Singapore 2014 trip!
We meet our new gang in the terrace
restaurant of our hotel in Istanbul.
Some are new to overlanding and some are more experienced, but one thing
for sure is that they are all enthusiastic and excited to begin their new
adventure! After our introductions we swiftly
move on to the highly recommended Fuego Restaurant for a slap up meal in the
Sultanahmet area – well known for popular sites such as the Blue Mosque, Aya
Sophia and Basilica Cisterns.

The next day is spent sightseeing with new
friends and squeezing in a fish sandwich on the Galata Bridge before we leave
the hustle and bustle of the big city for the small waterfront town of
Eceabat. A charming little town which is
a great place for visiting the Gallipoli battlefields.

It is our first time camping and while the
facilities here at the Boomerang Bar are simple, we are hosted by the always
friendly and welcoming Mersut who will always have cold Efes and even teach you
how to drink Raki, if you dare take part!
